The full agreements are shown and signed inside the product — contractors at signup, homeowners when they choose to host a sign. This page isn't the fine print; it's a plain-language summary of what those agreements actually say, so you know the deal before you ever get there.
What we commit to
These are promises the product is built around — not marketing lines we can quietly walk back.
Homeowners stay in control — absolutely
If you host a sign, you can remove the sign, unpublish the page, or turn off the reward at any time, for any reason. It's your home and your call.
No photo without your approval
Nothing from your project appears publicly until you've approved it. No surprise before-and-afters.
Your name and street address are never published
A public project page shows only a neighborhood area — never a homeowner's name and never an exact street address.
Cost is always an honest range
Project cost is shown as a range, never an exact figure. The point is a truthful sense of what work costs nearby — not anyone's line-item invoice.
Contractor leads are exclusive
A lead that comes in through your sign is yours alone. We never sell it, share it, or resell it to a competitor.
Rewards are funded by the contractor
Rewards are funded by the contractor and paid to the homeowner once that payment clears. Yardstick does not advance rewards and does not guarantee them.
Ranking is never for sale
We never sell ranking or placement. No contractor can pay to look better than their actual work.
Privacy — the short version
We collect only what a given interaction actually requires, and no more.
What we collect, and when
- Contractors: business details and contact info to set up your account, plus a payment card the first time you order a sign.
- Homeowners: a verified email or phone to confirm it's really you. Your legal name and payout details are collected only when there's a reward to actually pay you.
- Neighbors: contact information only when you ask for a quote, and only with your consent to be contacted about it.
What we don't do
Analytics are first-party only, and live on the homeowner dashboard. We do not sell neighbor contact data, we do not run third-party ad trackers, and we do not take affiliate money to nudge you anywhere.
Texting you
We collect SMS consent (TCPA) before we ever text anyone, and every message honors a reply of STOP to opt out immediately.
